How to Install Ghost Spectre ISO Using Rufus (Step-by-Step USB Guide)
Written by Ghost Spectre Technical Team • Complete Walkthrough
Installing Ghost Spectre on a new or existing computer requires creating a bootable USB installer using a utility like Rufus. This tutorial covers everything you need: partition scheme selection, BIOS boot keys, and installation precautions.
Pre-Installation Requirements
- USB Flash Drive: Minimum 8 GB capacity (note: all existing files on this USB will be erased).
- Ghost Spectre ISO File: Download from the Official Download Portal.
- Rufus Utility: Download the latest portable executable from rufus.ie.
- Backup: Ensure all important files on your target drive (Drive C:) are safely backed up to external media or cloud storage.
Step 1: Download & Extract the Ghost Spectre ISO
Ghost Spectre releases are packaged inside a compressed ZIP archive. Once the download completes from our official MediaFire link, right-click the file and select Extract All. Note the location of the extracted .iso image.
Step 2: Configure Rufus
- Insert your USB flash drive into your computer and open Rufus with administrator privileges.
- Under Device, verify that your USB flash drive is selected.
- Under Boot selection, click SELECT, navigate to your extracted Ghost Spectre ISO, and click Open.
- Under Partition scheme:
- Select GPT if your computer uses modern UEFI BIOS (recommended for most PCs made after 2012).
- Select MBR if installing on older legacy BIOS systems or legacy motherboard setups.
- Target System will auto-fill as UEFI (non-CSM) or BIOS (or UEFI-CSM).
- Leave Volume Label, File System (NTFS or FAT32), and Cluster Size at default.
- Click START and confirm the format warning dialog to write the installer.
Step 3: Boot Your PC from the USB Flash Drive
Once Rufus finishes writing the image (status displays READY), keep the USB plugged in and restart your PC.
As soon as the screen powers on, repeatedly tap the Boot Menu Key for your motherboard or laptop brand:
| Manufacturer | Boot Menu Key | BIOS Setup Key |
|---|---|---|
| ASUS | F8 | Del or F2 |
| Gigabyte | F12 | Del |
| MSI | F11 | Del |
| Dell | F12 | F2 |
| HP | F9 | F10 or Esc |
| Lenovo | F12 | F2 or Fn+F2 |
| Acer | F12 | F2 or Del |
From the boot menu, select your USB flash drive (look for the UEFI prefix if installed with GPT) and press Enter.
Step 4: Complete the Windows Setup
The Ghost Spectre custom installer will launch:
- Select your language, keyboard layout, and time format.
- Click Install Now.
- Select your desired edition: Windows 11 Superlite or Windows 11 Compact (with or without Defender). See our Superlite vs Compact Guide for help choosing.
- Choose Custom: Install Windows only (advanced).
- Select your primary drive partition, format it, and click Next.
- The system will copy files and restart automatically into your new, lightweight desktop.
