The Ghost Toolbox is the cornerstone of Ghost Spectre's modular architecture. Instead of forcing bloatware onto your PC, Ghost Spectre leaves your system ultra-lean and lets you install exactly what you need with a single click.

1. How to Launch Ghost Toolbox

Following a clean installation of Ghost Spectre Windows 11 or 10, a shortcut labeled Ghost Toolbox is placed directly on your desktop. If you accidentally delete the shortcut:

  • Press Win + R, type cmd, and run ghosttoolbox.
  • Or navigate to C:\Windows\System32\ghosttoolbox.bat.

2. Installing Microsoft Store

In the Superlite edition, the Microsoft Store is omitted by default to conserve memory. If you require Store apps (such as WhatsApp, Spotify, or Minecraft):

  1. Open Ghost Toolbox as Administrator.
  2. Locate the menu option for Microsoft Store / UWP Apps.
  3. Type the corresponding number (typically 02) and press Enter.
  4. Select Install Microsoft Store (Latest).
  5. The toolbox will fetch official signed MSIX packages from Microsoft and register the Store within 60 seconds.

3. Installing Gaming Runtimes (DirectX & Visual C++)

For PC gamers, missing runtime libraries are the #1 cause of game crashes (e.g. VCRUNTIME140.dll or d3dx9_43.dll errors). Ghost Toolbox provides an automated installer:

  • Choose Visual C++ All-In-One Redistributables (2005 - 2022). It silent-installs all x86 and x64 architectures.
  • Choose DirectX End-User Runtime to install legacy DirectX 9.0c and 11 API components needed by Steam and Epic Games.

4. Managing Windows Updates

Unwanted background updates can trigger latency spikes and unexpected reboots while gaming. Inside Ghost Toolbox:

  • Pause Updates: You can pause Windows Update until 2099 to lock in stable drivers.
  • Resume Updates: You can unpause anytime to receive monthly security definitions.

5. Xbox Game Pass & Gaming Services

To run Xbox Game Pass games:

  1. Select the Xbox Services category.
  2. Install Xbox App and Gaming Services.
  3. Restart your PC once the installation completes.
